At 7:03 p.m., pursuant to the order adopted on June 1, 2017, the Senate was adjourned during pleasure and put into a Committee of the Whole in order to receive Ms. Madeleine Meilleur respecting her appointment as Commissioner of Official Languages, the Honourable Senator Eaton in the Chair.

The Honourable Senator Martin moved, for the Honourable Senator Frum, seconded by the Honourable Senator Neufeld, that further debate on the motion be adjourned until the next sitting.

The Honourable Senator Cools moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Woo:

That the Standing Senate Committee on National Finance be permitted, notwithstanding usual practices, to deposit with the Clerk of the Senate, between June 12, 2017 and July 7, 2017, if the Senate is not then sitting, a first interim report relating to its study on the financial implications of Canada’s aging population, and that the report be deemed to have been tabled in the Chamber.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The Honourable Senator Cools moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Woo:
