Bills – Third Reading

Third reading of Bill C-3, An Act to amend the Citizenship Act (2025).

The Honourable Senator Youance moved, for the Honourable Senator Coyle, seconded by the Honourable Senator Arnot, that the bill be read for the third time.

After debate,

In amendment, the Honourable Senator Housakos moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Smith:

That Bill C-3 be not now read a third time, but that it be amended, in clause 1,

(a) on page 3, by replacing line 36 with the following:

“1,095 days during any period of five consecutive years before the person’s birth; or”;

(b) on page 4, by replacing line 28 with the following:

“1,095 days during any period of five consecutive years before the person’s birth.”.

The bill was then read for the third time and passed.
