The Special Committee of the Senate on the Pearson Airport Agreements met this day, at 3:00 p.m., the Honourable Senator MacDonald, presiding.

Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators Bryden, Hervieux-Payette, Jessiman, Kirby, LeBreton, MacDonald and Tkachuk. (7)

Other Senator Present: The Honourable Senator Robertson.

In attendance: John Nelligan, Q.C., Counsel to the Committee.

WITNESSES:

From the Department of Transport:

Nick Mulder, Deputy Minister;

Victor Barbeau, Assistant Deputy Minister, Airports;

Austin Douglas, Past Associate Executive Director, Airport Groups (Retired);

Ed Warrick (retired), Project General Manager, Major Crown Projects, Pearson Airport

The Committee proceeded to its examination of the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on May 4, 1995. The Clerk of the Committee administered the oath/solemn affirmation and declaration to the witnesses, pursuant to s.13 of the Parliament of Canada Act.

The witnesses made a statement and answered questions.

At 5:30 p.m. the Committee recessed.

At 7:00 p.m. the Committee resumed.

At 9:00 p.m. the Committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
