The Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met at 4:35 p.m. this day, in Room 520, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Leonard J. Gustafson, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Anderson, Bosa, Hays, Kenny, Rossiter, Spivak, Stanbury and Taylor. (8)
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Jean-Denis Fréchette and June Dewetering, Research Officers.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Consideration of Bill C-60, An Act to establish the Canadian Food Inspection Agency and to repeal and amend other acts as a consequence.
WITNESSES:

Mr. Jack Wilkinson, President;
Ms Sally Rutherford, Executive Director.
From Agriculture Union -- PSAC:
Mr. Larry R. Leng, National President.
Mr. Wilkinson made brief presentation and, with Ms Rutherford, answered questions.
Mr. Leng made a brief presentation and answered questions.
At 5:55 p.m., Senator Hays moved, -- THAT the committee suspend its meeting and meet in camera as the Subcommittee on Procedure and Agenda.
The question being put on motion, -- it was agreed.
The committee resumed its meeting at 6:25 p.m. and reported progress.
At 6:30 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
