Extract from the Journals of the Senate, Monday, April 21, 1997:

Second reading of Bill C-38, An Act to provide for mediation between insolvent farmers and their creditors, to amend the Agriculture and Agri-Food Administration Monetary Penalties Act and to repeal the Farm Debt Review Act.

The Honourable Senator Taylor moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Graham, that the Bill be read the second time.

After debate, The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

The Bill was then read the second time.

The Honourable Senator Taylor moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Graham, that the Bill be referred to the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry.

Extract from the Journals of the Senate, Tuesday, April 22, 1997:

Resuming debate on the motion of the Honourable Senator Hays, seconded by the Honourable Senator Mercier, for the second reading of Bill C-34, An Act to establish programs for the marketing of agricultural products, to repeal the Agricultural Products Board Act, the Agricultural Products Cooperative Marketing Act, the Advance Payments for Crops Act and the Prairie Grain Advance Payments Act and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.
