The Subcommittee on Boreal Forest of the Standing Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry met at 10:27 a.m. this day, in Room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Doris Anderson, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Anderson, Spivak and Taylor (3).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Dan Shaw, Research Officer; Media Relations Officer of the subcommittee: Barbara Robson.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to its order of reference, the subcommittee met to study the present state and the future of forestry in Canada.
WITNESS:
From National Aboriginal Forestry Association:
Ms Peggy Smith, Registered Professional Forester and Senior Advisor.
Ms Smith made a statement and answered questions.
At 11:25 p.m., the subcommittee continued in camera to consider future business.
It was agreed, -- That the subcommittee retain the services of Barbara Robson for the month of April for media relations and as a research consultant and that a request for contract be forwarded to the Standing Committee for approval.
At 11:50 a.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
