The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 11:00 a.m. this day, in Room 356-S, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Tkachuk, presiding.
Members of the Committee present: The Honourable Senators Tkachuk, Cools, De Bané, Forest, Kelly, Landry, Lavoie-Roux and Stratton (8).
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament, Research Branch: Guy Beaumier.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
WITNESSES:
Ron J. Duhamel, M.P. (St. Boniface)
From the Treasury Board of Canada:
David Miller, Assistant Secretary, Expenditure Management Sector;
Tom Hopwood, Director, Office in charge of the Improved Reporting to Parliament, Program Branch.
Pursuant to its Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, March 20, 1996, the committee resumed its examination on Main Estimates laid before Parliament for the fiscal year ending March 31, 1997.
Mr. Duhamel made opening remarks and David Miller spoke of the Expenditure Management System, especially Reports and Documents: How the Pieces Fit Together, following which they answered question.
At 12:20 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
