The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and met at 8:30 a.m. this day, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Kenny presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Carstairs, Cochrane, Corbin, De Bané, Di Nino, Forrestall, Kenny, Milne, Nolin, Poulin, Rompkey and Stollery. (12)

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Phillips and Prud'homme (2).

In attendance: Mr. Paul Bélisle, Clerk of the Senate and other Senate officials.

It was agreed that the committee proceed in camera.

It was agreed to proceed in public.

Leave for Senators' Secretaries during Recess

It was agreed that senators' secretaries be reminded that the normal hours of work remain unchanged during the Senate's adjournment unless special arrangements are made between the Senator and his/her staff.

Budget of Transport and Communications Committee

96-12-12/94

It was agreed that the supplementary budget application from the Transport and Communications committee (transportation safety) be approved as follows:

Professional and Other Services $ 34,850

Transportation and Communications $ 73,873

Total $108,723

Budget of Social Affairs, Science and Technology Committee (Veterans Affairs)

96-12-12/95

It was agreed that the budget application from the Social Affairs, Science and Technology committee (Veterans Affairs) be approved as follows:

Professional and Other Services $ 6,300.00

Transportation and Communications $ 24,802.70

Total $ 31,103.00

At 10:50 a.m. the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
