The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs, met this day, in Room 505, Victoria Building at 4:40 p.m., the Chair, the Honourable Senator Sharon Carstairs, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beaudoin, Bryden, Carstairs, Doyle, Gigantès, Jessiman, Lucier, Maheu, Moore, and Nolin (10).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Cools.
In attendance: Marilyn Pilon, Research Officer, Research Branch of the Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, April 22, 1997, the committee commenced its consideration of Bill C-46, An Act to amend the Criminal Code (production of records in sexual offence proceedings)
The Chair made an opening statement.
Ms Catherine Kane made a statement and, together with Mr. Yvan Roy and Mr. Fred Bobiasz, answered questions.
At 6:45 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
