The Subcommittee on Post-Secondary education met at 9:15 a.m. this day in Room 705, Victoria Building, the Chairman, the Honourable M. Lorne Bonnell, presiding.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, June 19, 1996, the Subcommittee resumed its consideration of the inquiry on the serious state of Post-Secondary education in Canada (for full text of Order of Reference see Proceedings of the Subcommittee dated August 6, 1996, Issue No. 1 ).
David Stager made an opening statement and answered questions.
Professor Stager tabled with the clerk two publications and a list on Student Loans, as follows:
(a) Publications on Higher EDUCATION, retained as Exhibit No. 6050-2.35/P1 13 "35";
(b) The Canadian Journal of Higher EDUCATION, Volume XXVI, No. 2, 1996, retained as Exhibit No. 6050-2.35/P1 13 "36"; and
(c) A list entitled Selected publications relating to higher EDUCATION and the labour market [David A. Stager, University of Toronto] March 1997, retained as Exhibit No. 6050-2.35/P1 13 "37".
At 10:15 a.m., the student leaders made opening statements and answered questions.
At 11:10 a.m., Bonnie Patterson made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 11:50 a.m., Michael Piva made an opening statement and answered questions.
At 12:20 p.m., the meeting was suspended.
At 12:35 p.m., the meeting resumed.
Lynda Davenport, Joan Homer, Brian Desbiens and Tom Evans made opening statements and answered questions.
At 1:20 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
