The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met at 10:07 a.m. this day in Room 356-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Ronald D. Ghitter, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Buchanan, P.C., Cochrane, Fitzpatrick, Ghitter, Kenny, Kroft, Spivak and Taylor (8).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament, Alan Nixon, Research Officer.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
WITNESSES:

The committee, in compliance with its Order of Reference dated October 23, 1997 in accordance with Rule 86(1)(p), proceeded to examine such issues as may arise from time to time relating to energy, the environment and natural resources generally in Canada (see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1, dated November 5, 1997, for full text of Order of Reference).
The witnesses made a statement and answered questions.
At 11:54 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

It was agreed -- That additional material be received from the National Energy Board at a later date.
