The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs met at 6:05 p.m., this day, in room 256-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable John B. Stewart, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Bolduc, Corbin, De Bané, P.C., Di Nino, Grafstein, Losier-Cool and Stewart (8).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Prud'homme, P.C.
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Peter Berg and Julie Cusson.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Mr. Michael A. E. Greene, Treasurer, National Citizenship and Immigration Section;
Mr. Howard D. Greenberg, Former Chair, National Citizenship and Immigration Section.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday February 11, 1999, the committee proceeded to study Bill S-22, An Act authorizing the United States to preclear travellers and goods in Canada for entry into the United States for the purposes of customs, immigration, public health, food inspection and plant and animal health.
Ms Thompson, Mr. Greene and Mr. Greenberg made opening statements and answered questions.
At 7:25 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
