The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met in camera at 8:35 a.m. this day, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Rompkey, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, DeWare, Di Nino, Forrestall, LeBreton, Losier-Cool, Maheu, Nolin, Poulin, Robichaud, P.C., (Saint-Louis-de-Kent), Rompkey, P.C., Stollery and Taylor (13).

Other senator Present: The Honourable Senator Kenny (1).

In attendance: Mr. Paul Bélisle, Clerk of the Senate, and other Senate officials.

At 9:55 a.m. the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

The Standing Committee on Internal Economy, Budgets and Administration met at 9:05 a.m. this day, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Rompkey, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators DeWare, Di Nino, Forrestall, LeBreton, Losier-Cool, Nolin, Poulin, Robichaud, P.C., (Saint-Louis-de-Kent ) and Rompkey, P.C. (9).

Other senators Present: The Honourable Senator Kenny and Murray, P.C. (2).

In attendance: Mr. Paul Bélisle, Clerk of the Senate, and other Senate officials.

98-10-01/192 -- Budget Application of the Social Affairs, Science and Technology committee.

The committee proceeded to the consideration of the budget application for 1998-99 for the Social Affairs, Science and Technology committee with respect to its study of social cohesion.

After debate,

It was agreed that the budget application of the Social Affairs committee for 1998-99 for its study on social cohesion ($68,700) be approved and that the Chair present the committee with a communications plan at its next meeting.

98-10-01/193 -- Security and Intelligence committee

It was agreed that the request from Senator Kelly for a transfer of $10,000 from the Transport and Communications category to the Professional and Other Services category be approved but that the committee return to the Internal Economy committee at its next meeting with a Communications Plan.

At 9:40 a.m., the committee proceeded in camera.

At 10:55 a.m. the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
