The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs met at 9:16 a.m. this day in Room 160-S, Centre Block, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Orville H. Phillips, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Chalifoux, Cools, Forest, Jessiman and Phillips (5).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Prud'homme and Kelly (2).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Grant Purves, Research Officer.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

From the Canadian Museum of Civilization:
Ms Adrienne Clarkson, Chairwoman of the Board of Trustees of the CMCC;
Dr. George F. MacDonald, President and CEO.;
Mr. Joe Geurts, Chief Operating Officer and Senior Vice-President;
Mr. Daniel J. Glenney, Acting Director General, Canadian War Museum; and
Louise Dubois, Corporate Secretary.
Pursuant to the Orders of Reference adopted by the Senate on November 25, 1997 and by the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology on November 25, 1997, the subcommittee continued its examination on the future of the Canadian War Museum. (See proceedings of the subcommittee dated February 2, 1998, Issue No. 3)
Mr. Suthren made a statement and answered questions.
Mr. Mark Audcent, Law Clerk of the Senate, accompanied Mr. Suthren.
Ms Clarkson from the Canadian Museum of Civilization made a statement and, with Mr. Geurts, Ms Dubois and Dr. MacDonald answered questions.
The Chairman read a letter from the Royal Canadian Mint into the record.
Dr. MacDonald made a statement and answered questions.
At 13:12 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
