The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day in camera, at 11:10 a.m., in Room 160-S, Centre Block, the Deputy Chairman, the Honourable Anne C. Cools presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Chalifoux, Cools, Forest and Jessiman (4).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Grant Purves, Research Officer.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Orders of Reference adopted by the Senate on November 5, 1997 and by the Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology on November 25, 1997, the subcommittee resumed its examination of the state of health care in Canada concerning veterans of war and Canadian Service persons; that the study concern itself with the availability, quality and standards of health care available to those veterans and Service persons.
The subcommittee began consideration of the draft interim report dealing with its examination of the state of health care in Canada concerning veterans of war and Canadian Service persons.
The subcommittee adjourned at 11:30 a.m. to the call of the Chair.

Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Cools, Jessiman and Johnstone (3).
In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Grant Purves, Research Officer.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

The subcommittee resumed consideration of the draft interim report dealing with its examination of the state of health care in Canada concerning veterans of war and Canadian Service persons.
The Honourable Senator Jessiman moved that the report, as amended, entitled "The State of Health Care for War Veterans and Service Men and Women" be adopted.
After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was agreed.
The subcommittee adjourned at 10:15 a.m. to the call of the Chair.
