The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met at 6:45 p.m. this day, in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Mira Spivak, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Banks, Christensen, Cochrane, Finnerty, Kelleher, P.C., Kenny, Sibbeston, Spivak and Taylor (10).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Wilson (1).

In attendance: The official reporters of the Senate and from the Library of Parliament, Lynne Myers, researcher.

The committee, in compliance with its Order of Reference dated May 9, 2000, proceeded to study Bill S-20 (Tobacco Act). (See Issue No. 11, June 6, 2000, for the full text of the Order of Reference.)

At 8:45 p.m., the Honourable Senator Colin Kenny took the chair.

The witnesses made a presentation and answered questions.

At 9:30 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
