Extract from the Journals of the Senate of Tuesday, May 9, 2000:
The Honourable Senator Stollery moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Mercier,
That the Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs be authorised to examine and report on emerging political, social, economic and security developments in Russia and Ukraine, taking into account Canada's policy and interests in the region, and other related matters.
That the committee submit its final report no later than June 15, 2001 and that the committee retain all powers necessary to publicise the findings of the committee contained in the final report until June 29, 2001.
