Extract from the Journals of the Senate of Tuesday, May 9, 2000:

The Honourable Senator Stollery moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Pearson:

That the Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs be authorized to examine the Performance Report of the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade for the period ending March 31, 1999, tabled in the Senate on November 2, 1999 (Sessional Paper No. 2/36-71); and

That the committee report no later than March 31, 2001.

After debate,

In amendment, the Honourable Senator Cools moved, seconded by the Honourable Senator Rompkey, P.C., that the motion be amended by striking out the words "March 31, 2001" and substituting therefore the words "August 31, 2000".

The question being put on the motion in amendment, it was adopted.

The question then being put on the motion, as amended, it was adopted.
