The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day at 3:40 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the Chairman, the Honourable Lorna Milne, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beaudoin, Cools, Fraser, Ghitter, Joyal, P.C., Milne, Moore, Pearson and Poy (9).
In attendance: Nancy Holmes and Marilyn Pilon, Research Officers, Law and Government Division, Research Branch, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on November 18, 1999, the committee proceeded to study Bill S-10, An Act to amend the National Defence Act, the DNA Identification Act and the Criminal Code. (See Issue No. 3, Wednesday, December 1, 1999 for full text of the Order of Reference.)
The Chairman read into the record a letter from the Minister.
The witnesses made a statement and answered questions from the members of the committee.
At 4:55 p.m., the committee suspended sitting.
At 5:50 p.m., the committee resumed sitting.
At 6:26 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
