The Standing Senate Committee on Legal and Constitutional Affairs met this day at 11:15 a.m., in Room 257, East Block, the Chairman, the Honourable Lorna Milne, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Beaudoin, Cools, Fraser, Ghitter, Joyal, P.C., Milne, Moore, Nolin, Pearson and Poy (10).
In attendance: Nancy Holmes and Marilyn Pilon, Research Officers, Law and Government Division, Research Branch, Library of Parliament and Till Heyde, Committee Clerk.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on November 18, 1999, the committee proceeded to study Bill S-10, An Act to amend the National Defence Act, the DNA Identification Act and the Criminal Code. (See Issue No. 3, Wednesday, December 1, 1999 for full text of the Order of Reference.)
The Chairman read into the record the letter send to the minister concerning the clarification sought in the French version
The witnesses made statements and answered questions from the members of the committee.
At 12:33 p.m., the Honourable Senator Beaudoin took the Chair.
At 12:45 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
