The Standing Committee on Banking, Trade and commerce met at 11:30 a.m. this day, in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Kolber, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Fitzpatrick, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Kelleher, P.C., Kolber, Kroft, Oliver, Poulin, Setlakwe, Tkachuk and Tunney (10).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Mahovlich (1).

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament, Law and Government Division: Mr. Geoff Kieley, Research Officer.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, February 5, 2002, the committee continued its examination of Bill C-23, An Act to amend the Competition Act and the Competition Tribunal Act.

APPEARING:

The Honourable Allan Rock, M.P., P.C., Minister of Industry.

The Honourable Allan Rock made a statement and answered questions.

At 12:30 p.m., the committee continued in camera to consider future business.

At 12:55 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
