The Standing Committee on Privileges, Standing Rules, and Orders met in camera at 12:10 p.m. this day, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Jack Austin, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Austin, P.C., DeWare, Gauthier, Grafstein,Joyal, P.C., Kroft, Losier-Cool, Murray, P.C., Poulin, Rossiter and Stratton (12).

In attendance: Mr. Mark Audcent, Senate Law Clerk; Mr. Jamie Robertson, Researcher, Library of Parliament;Ms Heather Lank, Principal Clerk (Committees); Mr. Gary O'Brien, Deputy Clerk and Grant Holly, Senate Page (5).

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

At 1:25 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.

The Standing Committee on Privileges, Standing Rules, and Orders met at 12:05 p.m. this day, the Chairman, the Honourable Senator Jack Austin, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, Austin, P.C., Bryden, Di Nino, Fraser, Gauthier, Grafstein, Joyal, P.C., Kroft, Losier-Cool, Murray, P.C.,Pitfield, P.C. and Stratton (13).

In attendance: Mr. Paul Bélisle and other Senate Officials.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

The committee resumed its consideration of the motion of Senator Gauthier (Senate Committee on Official Languages).

After debate,

It was agreed that further consideration of the motion be adjourned until the next meeting of the committee.

It was also agreed that the Commissioner of Official Languages be invited to appear before the committee at a future meeting.

At 12:25 p.m., the committee proceeded in camera.

At 1:30 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
