The Standing Committee on Privileges, Standing Rules, and Orders met at 12:05 p.m. this day, the Deputy Chairman, the Honourable Senator Terry Stratton presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bryden, DeWare, Finestone, P.C., Gauthier, Joyal, P.C., Kroft, Losier-Cool, Murray, P.C., Rossiter and Stratton (10).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Comeau (1).

In attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

WITNESSES:

From the Office of the Commissioner of official Languages:

Dyane Adams, Commissioner of Official Languages;

Laura Snowball, Legal Council;

Michel Robichaud, Director General, Investigations Branch;

Gérard Finn, Director General, Policy and Communications Branch.

Ms Dyane Adams made a statement and answered questions.

The Chairman reviewed the proposed agenda of the committee for the coming weeks.

The committee resumed its consideration of the motion of Senator Gauthier, as amended (Senate Committee on Official Languages).

After debate,

It was agreed that further consideration of the motion be adjourned until the next meeting of the committee.

At 1:25 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
