(23) [English] The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day, in Room 257, East Block, at 6:35 p.m., the Chair, the Honourable Michael Kirby, presiding. Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cordy, Graham, P.C., Kirby, LeBreton, Morin, Pépin and Robertson (7). Other senators present: The Honourable Senator Keon (1). In attendance: From the Research Branch of the Library of Parliament: Odette Madore and Howard Chodos, from the Committees and Private Legislation Directorate: Josée Thérien, Legislative Clerk. Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate. Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, March 1, 2001, the committee continued its consideration of the special study on the state of the health care system in Canada.
