The Standing Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples met this day at 9:05 a.m. in room 160-S, Centre Block, the Chair, the Honourable Senator Chalifoux, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chalifoux, Chaput, Christensen, Hubley, Léger, Pearson, Sibbeston and Stratton (8).
In attendance: Tonina Simeone, Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 29, 2002, the committee continued its examination of issues affecting urban aboriginal youth in Canada, in particular, access, provision and delivery of services, policy and jurisdictional issues, employment and education, access to economic opportunities, youth participation and empowerment, and other related matters.

The witnesses made introductory remarks and then answered questions.

The Committee proceeded to consider the following draft legislative budget application for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2004:
