The Standing Senate Committee on Energy, the Environment and Natural Resources met at 5:11 p.m. this day, in room 257 East Block, the Honourable Tommy Banks, Chair, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Banks, Christensen, Eyton, Finnerty, Kenny, Milne and Spivak (7).

In attendance: From the Library of Parliament: Lynne Myers, Researcher, Science and Technology Division.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 7, 2002, the committee continued its examination of emerging issues related to its mandate (implementation of the Kyoto Protocol). At 10:12 a.m., the committee resumed in camera, pursuant to rule 92(2)(e) for the purpose of discussing a draft agenda.

At 10:26 a.m., the committee suspended its sitting.

At 10:31 a.m., the committee resumed its sitting and, pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, April 3, 2003, proceeded to study Bill C-2, An Act to establish a process for assessing the environmental and socio-economic effects of certain activities in Yukon.
