The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 7:03 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Gerald J. Comeau, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Comeau, Cook, Hubley, Mahovlich, Phalen and Watt (7).

In attendance: Claude Emery, Research Analyst, Library of Parliament.

The committee resumed consideration of its Order of Reference pertaining to its study on matters relating to straddling stocks and to fish habitat. (See committee Proceedings of November 5, 2002, Issue No. 1.)

WITNESSES

(AS A PANEL):

Terrance Long, Consultant for Hazardous Management Disposal.

From the Waycobah First Nation:

Morley Googoo, Chief;

Wanda Arnold, Director of Operations.

From Human Factors Applications, Inc.:

Rick Hanoski, Division Manager.

From Alion Science and Technology:

Dr. Jennifer Mokos, Division Manager, Chemical Technology, and Vice-President.

All members of the panel made a joint presentation and answered questions.

The meeting was suspended at 8:47 p.m. and, in accordance with rule 92(2)(e), resumed in camera at 8:50 p.m. for the purpose of considering future business.

After debate, it was agreed that the fact-finding trip to British Columbia scheduled for June 17-21, 2003, be postponed to an undetermined date.

At 9:05 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
