The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 7:09 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the Acting Chair, the Honourable Charlie Watt, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Mahovlich, Robichaud, P.C., Trenholme Counsell, and Watt (5).
In attendance: Claude Emery, Research Analyst, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
The committee resumed consideration of its Order of Reference relating to straddling stocks and to fish habitat. (See Committee Proceedings of November 5, 2002, Issue No. 1)
WITNESSES:
From the Office of the Auditor General of Canada:
Johanne Gélinas, Commissioner of the Environment and Sustainable Development;
John Reed, Principal;
Neil Maxwell, Principal.
The Clerk of the Committee advised the committee of the unavoidable absence of the Chair and presided over the election of an Acting Chair.
The Honourable Senator Adams moved that the Honourable Senator Watt take the Chair as Acting Chair for this meeting.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
The Acting Chair took the Chair.
Ms. Gélinas made a presentation and, with Messrs. Reed and Maxwell, answered questions.
At 8:34 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
