The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day at 7 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Gerald Comeau, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Adams, Cochrane, Comeau, Hubley, Johnson, Mahovlich, Trenholme Counsell, and Watt (8).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Stollery (1).
In attendance: Claude Emery, Research Analyst, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
The committee resumed consideration of its Order of Reference pertaining to its study on matters relating to quota allocations and benefits to Nunavut and Nunavik fishermen. (See Issue No. 8 of the Committee Proceedings.)
WITNESSES:
From the Baffin Fisheries Coalition:
Mr. Manasie Audlakik, Chairman;
Mr. Jerry Ward, Chief Executive Officer.
Messrs. Audlakik and Ward made a presentation and answered questions.
At 8 p.m., the sitting suspended.
At 8:07 p.m., the sitting resumed.
Questions continued.
At 8:47 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.

The Standing Senate Committee on Fisheries and Oceans met this day in camera at 6:25 p.m., in room 505, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Gerald Comeau, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Cochrane, Comeau, Hubley, Johnson, and Watt (5).
In attendance: Claude Emery, Research Analyst, Library of Parliament.
The committee resumed consideration of its Order of Reference relating to straddling stocks and to fish habitat. (See Committee Proceedings of November 5, 2002, Issue No. 1.)
The committee proceeded to consider draft reports.
It was agreed — That the draft report on fish habitat be adopted and that the Chair table it in the Senate.
It was agreed — That the draft report on a question of privilege raised in the Senate on May 27, 2003 be adopted and that the Chair present it in the Senate.
At 6:47 p.m., it was agreed that the committee adjourn to the call of the Chair.
