The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 9:04 a.m., in Antoine-Gaborieau Hall at the Centre culturel franco-manitobain in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Chair, the Honourable Rose-Marie Losier-Cool, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Chaput, Comeau, Keon, Léger and Losier-Cool (5).

In attendance: From the Parliamentary Research Branch, Library of Parliament Marie-Ève Hudon.

The committee resumed consideration of its Order of Reference pertaining to its study of the operation of the Official Languages Act and of regulations and directives made thereunder. (See Committee Proceedings of February 10, 2003, Issue No. 3.)

From the Office of French Language Services Policy:

Mr. Guy Jourdain, Special Advisor.

From Healthy Child Manitoba:

Mr. Boucher made an opening statement and answered questions.

Mr. Jourdain made a presentation.

Ms. Chartier made a presentation.

The sitting was suspended at 10:14 a.m.

The sitting resumed at 10:40 a.m.

Ms. Dornez-Laxdal and Ms. Dupuis made presentations and, together with Ms. d'Auteuil, answered questions.

Ms. Dupuis made a presentation and, together with Mr. Auger, answered questions.

At 12:15 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
