The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met at 9:35 a.m., this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, the Deputy Chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Biron, Day, Downe, Ferretti Barth, Murray, P.C., Ringuette, Stollery and Stratton (8).

In attendance: Guy Beaumier and Odette Madore, Research Officers, Library of Parliament.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, March 21, 2005, the committee began its consideration of Bill C-8, An Act to amend the Financial Administration Act, the Canada School of Public Service Act and the Official Languages Act.

WITNESSES:

Public Service Human Resources Management Agency:

Jean-Claude Dumesnil, Director General, Strategic Planning;

Mylène Bouzigon, Senior General Counsel, Finance, Treasury Board, Public Service Human Resources Management Agency.

The Deputy Chair made a statement.

Mr. Dumesnil made a statement and, together with Ms. Bouzigon, answered questions.

At 10:38 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
