The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met in camera at 9:40 a.m., this day, in room 705, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Donald H. Oliver, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Day, Downe, Ferretti Barth, Harb, Mitchell, Murray, P.C., Oliver and Ringuette (8).
In attendance: Odette Madore and Guy Beaumier, Research Officers, Library of Parliament.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, March 7, 2005, the committee continued its consideration of the examination of the Main Estimates laid before Parliament for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2006. (For complete text of the Order of Reference, please see Issue 14 of the proceedings of the committee.)
It was agreed that staff of senators' office be permitted to stay in the room.
The committee considered its draft report on the Officers of Parliament and on Foundations.
It was agreed that the revised versions of the reports wouldbe reviewed at the committee's meeting of Wednesday,May 18, 2005.
At 11:00 a.m. the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Day, Ferretti Barth, Harb, Mitchell, Murray, P.C., Oliver and Ringuette (7).

It was agreed that staff of senators' office be permitted to stay in the room.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, March 7, 2005, the committee continued its consideration of the examination of the Main Estimates laid before Parliament for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2006. Pursuant to rule 92(2)e the committee considered a draft report.
It was agreed that the staff of senators' offices be permitted to remain in the room.
It was agreed that the report on Foundations be adopted as the second interim report on the Main Estimates laid before Parliament for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2006 and that the Chair table the report in the Senate and move a motion for its adoption and request a government response.
It was agreed that the report on Officers of Parliament be adopted as the third interim report on the Main Estimates laid before Parliament for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2006 and that the Chair table the report in the Senate and move a motion for its adoption and request a government response.
At 6:55 p.m. the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.

Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, March 7, 2005, the committee continued its consideration of the examination of the Main Estimates laid before Parliament for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2006. It was agreed that staff of senators' office be permitted to stay in the room.
Pursuant to rule 92(2)(e), the committee considered a draft future agenda.
The committee discussed a list of potential future witnesses and areas for study.
It was agreed that the Chair would circulate a letter to members outlining the list of potential future witnesses and areas for study, and that the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be authorized to determine the priority for inviting any such future witnesses.
The Honourable Senator Mitchell moved that the committee do now adjourn.
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 6:50 p.m. the committee adjourned to the call of the Chair.
