The Senate Subcommittee on Population Health met at 4:17 p.m. this day, in room 2, Victoria Building, the Chair, the Honourable Wilbert J. Keon, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Callbeck, Cochrane, Fairbairn, P.C., Keon, and Pépin (5).
Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Eggleton, P.C. and Nancy Ruth (2).
In attendance: From the Library of Parliament Research Branch: Tonina Simeone, Research Analyst, Political and Social Affairs Division and Michael Toye, Research Analyst, Political and Social Affairs Division.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the Order of Reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, the subcommittee continued its study on the impact of the multiple factors and conditions that contribute to the health of Canada's population — known collectively as the social determinants of health. (See Issue No. 1, Thursday, February 22, 2007, for the complete text of the Order of Reference.)
