The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met in camera, pursuant to rule 92(3)(a), this day at 12:05 p.m., in room 172-E, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Tommy Banks, presiding.

Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Banks, Manning, Meighen, Pépin and Wallin (5).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Dallaire and Downe (2).

In attendance: James S. Cox, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament and Tracie LeBlanc, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, and delegated on Monday, April 12, 2010 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee continued its study on the services and benefits provided to members of the Canadian Forces; to veterans; to members and former members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their families. WITNESS:

The Honourable Lucie Pépin, Senator.

It was agreed that senators' staff be permitted to remain in the room for today's meeting.

It was agreed that the committee allow the recording of this in camera meeting.

The Honourable Senator Pépin made a statement and answered questions.

At 1:24 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
