The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 12:10 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the deputy chair, the Honourable Fabian Manning, presiding.

Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Manning, Meighen, Pépin and Wallin (4).

Other senators present: The Honourable Senators Dallaire and Day (2).

In attendance: James S. Cox, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; and Tracie LeBlanc, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.

Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, March 30, 2010, and delegated on Monday, April 12, 2010 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee continued its study on the services and benefits provided to members of the Canadian Forces; to veterans; to members and former members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their families. The Honourable Senator Wallin moved:

That the subcommittee adjourn, today, at 1:15 p.m.

After debate, the question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

Charlotte Bastien made a statement and, together with Robert Cormier, Lina Matos and Lieutenant-Colonel C.M. Hand, answered questions.

At 1:14 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
