The Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met in camera at 4:16 p.m., this day, in room 160-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable A. Raynell Andreychuk, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Andreychuk, De Bané, P.C., Downe, Fortin- Duplessis, Johnson, Mahovlich, Robichaud, P.C., St. Germain, P.C., Smith, P.C. (Cobourg), Tkachuk and Wallin (11).
In attendance: Natalie Mychajlyszyn and Brian Hermon, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, June 21, 2011, the committee continued its examination of the political and economic developments in Brazil and the implications for Canadian Policy and interests in the region, and other related matters. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 1.)
Pursuant to rule 92(2)(f), the committee proceeded in camera to consider a draft report.
It was agreed that senators' staff be allowed to stay in the room.
The committee considered a draft future agenda, pursuant to rule 92(2)(e).
It was moved:
That the next studies of the committee should be on the Charter of the Commonwealth and on the Canadian foreign policy regarding Iran.
After debate,
The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.
At 5:20 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
