The Standing Senate Committee on Banking, Trade and Commerce met in camera this day at 4:20 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Céline Hervieux-Payette, P.C., presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Greene, Hervieux-Payette, P.C., Massicotte, Meredith, Moore, Oliver, Ringuette, Smith (Saurel), Stewart Olsen and Tkachuk (10).

In attendance: Adriane Yong, Brett Stuckey and June Dewetering, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, October 30, 2012, the committee continued its examination of the subject-matter of those elements contained in Divisions 1, 3, 6 and 14 of Part 4 of Bill C-45, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 29, 2012 and other measures. (For the complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 26.)

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report.

It was moved:

That senators' staff be allowed to stay in the room and that blackberries and cellular phones not be used.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

It was moved:

That the draft report, as amended, be adopted;

That the Honourable Senators Hervieux-Payette, P.C., and Smith (Saurel) approve the final version; and

That the chair or designate be authorized to table the report in the Senate, at the earliest opportunity.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

It was agreed that the Honourable Senator Tkachuk would table the report.

At 5:13 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
