The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance has the honour to table its

FIRST REPORT

Your committee, which was authorized by the Senate to incur expenses for the purpose of its examination and consideration of such legislation and other matters as were referred to it, reports, pursuant to rule 104(2), that the expenses incurred by the committee during the Third Session of the Fortieth Parliament are as follows:

With respect to its consideration of estimates and legislation:

With respect to its special study of the costs and benefits of Canada's one cent coin to Canadian taxpayers and the overall Canadian economy:

Your committee examined two bills, one of which was reported without amendment:

Bill C-47, A second Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 4, 2010 and other measures.

Your committee also reported the following bill with amendments:

Bill C-9, An Act to implement certain provisions of the budget tabled in Parliament on March 4, 2010 and other measures.

Your committee also examined the subject-matter of Bill C-47, but did not report on it prior to the bill itself being referred to the committee.

During the Third Session of the Fortieth Parliament, your committee received 13 orders of reference, held 73 meetings, heard more than 141 hours of testimony from 319 witnesses and submitted 11 reports in relation to its work, including 7 reports dealing with the Estimates (Main or Supplementary).
