The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications has the honour to table its

TENTH REPORT

Your committee, which was authorized by the Senate on December 11, 2012 to receive senior management and officials of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation to explain their decision to cut funding to Radio Canada International services by 80 per cent, particularly in view of the importance of:

(a) Radio Canada International as the voice of Canada around the world; and

(b) short wave radio in oppressed regions worldwide that are denied access to the Internet, examined the said matter and now reports as follows:

On May 1, 2013, the committee received Mr. Hubert T. Lacroix, President and CEO of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation and Ms. Hélène Parent, Director of Radio Canada International and were pleased with the presentation and explanations provided to the committee regarding the cuts made to services provided by Radio Canada International.
