The Standing Senate Committee on Official Languages met this day at 4:01 p.m., in room 9, Victoria Building, the deputy chair, the Honourable Andrée Champagne, P.C., presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Champagne, P.C., Chaput, Charette-Poulin, Fortin- Duplessis, Fraser, McIntyre, Oh and Poirier (8).
Other senator present: The Honourable Senator Robichaud, P.C. (1).
In attendance: Marie-Ève Hudon, Analyst, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament; Brigitte Lemay, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 21, 2013, the committee continued its study on the impacts of recent changes to the immigration system on official language minority communities.
WITNESSES:

Marie-France Kenny, President;
Suzanne Bossé, Director General.
Ms. Kenny made a presentation and, along with Ms. Bossé, answered questions.
At 4:58 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:03 p.m., the committee resumed.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 21, 2013, the committee continued its study on the impacts of recent changes to the immigration system on official language minority communities.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 21, 2013, the committee began its study on best practices for language policies and second-language learning in a context of linguistic duality or plurality.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, November 21, 2013, the committee continued its study on the application of the Official Languages Act and of the regulations and directives made under it, within those institutions subject to the act.
