The Standing Senate Committee on Social Affairs, Science and Technology met this day at 4:13 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Kelvin Kenneth Ogilvie, presiding.
Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Bellemare, Beyak, Chaput, Cordy, Dyck, Eaton, Eggleton, P.C., Enverga, Ogilvie, Segal, Seidman, Seth and Stewart Olsen (13).
In attendance: Sonya Norris and Michael Dewing, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service.
Also in attendance: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, December 4, 2013, the committee began its study of Bill C-7, An Act to amend the Museums Act in order to establish the Canadian Museum of History and to make consequential amendments to other Acts.

The chair made a statement.
The Honourable Shelly Glover, P.C., M.P., made a statement and, together with Ms. Swords and Mr. Lussier, answered questions.
At 4:44 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 4:46 p.m., the committee resumed.
Mr. O'Neill, Mr. McAvity and Ms. Vermette each made a statement and, together with Mr. Morrison, answered questions.
At 5:07 p.m., the committee suspended.
At 5:59 p.m., the committee resumed.
At 6 p.m., the Honourable Senator Beyak replaced the Honourable Senator Seth as a member of the committee.
Mr. Holyoak, Ms. Marshall and Ms. Barker each made a statement and, together, answered questions.
At 6:33 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
