The Standing Senate Committee on Transport and Communications met this day at 6:45 p.m., in room 2, Victoria Building, the chair, the Honourable Dennis Dawson, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Dawson, Demers, Eggleton, P.C., Greene, Housakos, MacDonald, Plett and Verner, P.C. (8).

In attendance: Dillian Theckedath and Terrence (Terry) Thomas, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, December 9, 2013, the committee continued its study on the challenges faced by the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in relation to the changing environment of broadcasting and communications. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 2.)

WITNESS:

Université de Montréal:

Alain Saulnier, Visiting Professor, Communications Department, Faculty of Arts and Sciences.

Mr. Saulnier made a statement and answered questions.

At 8:17 p.m., the committee suspended.

At 8:19 p.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee proceeded in camera to consider a draft agenda.

The committee considered a draft agenda.

At 8:36 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
