The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs of the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence met this day at 12 p.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Joseph A. Day, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Day, Lang, Stewart Olsen and White (4).
In attendance: Jean-Rodrigue Paré and Isabelle Lafontaine-Émond, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Service, Library of Parliament.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Thursday, December 11, 2014 and delegated on Monday, February 2, 2015 by the Standing Senate Committee on National Security and Defence, the subcommittee began its examination of Bill C-27, An Act to amend the Public Service Employment Act (enhancing hiring opportunities for certain serving and former members of the Canadian Forces).

Sharon Squire, Deputy Ombudsman and Executive Director of Operations.

Christine Donoghue, Senior Vice-President, Policy Branch;
Michael West, Director General, Delegation and Accountability.
The chair made an opening statement.
Mr. Walbourne, Mr. Parent, and Ms. Donoghue each made a statement and, together with Ms. Squire and Mr. West, answered questions.
At 1:14 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
