The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met in camera this day at 9:30 a.m., in room 356-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Joan Fraser, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Bellemare, Cools, Dupuis, Fraser, Gold, Housakos, Joyal, P.C., Lankin, P.C., McInnis, Munson, Ringuette, Seidman, Tkachuk, Wells and White (16).

In attendance: Sebastian Spano and David Groves, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Tuesday, April 4, 2017, the committee continued its consideration of the process for determining the composition of the Committee of Selection and the composition of each standing committee. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the committee, Issue No. 8.)

The committee considered a draft report, and amendments were made thereto.

It was agreed:

That the draft report, as amended, be adopted;

That the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be authorized to finalize the contents of the report in light of the committee's decisions; and

That the chair present the report to the Senate.

At 10:41 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
