The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met in camera this day at 9:31 a.m., in room 356-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Joan Fraser, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Bellemare, Cools, Dupuis, Fraser, Gold, Joyal, P.C., Lankin, P.C., McInnis, Ringuette, Seidman, Tkachuk, Wells and White (14).

In attendance: Catherine Piccinin, Acting Deputy Principal Clerk, Table Research Branch; Blair Armitage, Principal Clerk, Committees Directorate; Shaila Anwar, Acting Deputy Principal Clerk, Committees Directorate; David Groves and Marc-André Roy, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to rule 12-7(2)(c), the committee considered the orders and practices of the Senate and the privileges of Parliament.

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft agenda (future business).

The committee continued its consideration of the first report of the Subcommittee to Review the Senators Attendance Policy and made amendments.

It was agreed that the first report of the subcommittee, as amended, be adopted.

At 10:57 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
