The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met this day at 10:03 a.m., in room 356-S, Centre Block, the chair, the Honourable Leo Housakos, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Duffy, Eggleton, P.C., Gold, Greene, Housakos, Joyal, P.C., Maltais, Mégie, Munson, Ringuette, Seidman and Unger (13).

Other senator present: The Honourable Senator White (1).

In attendance: David Groves and Marc-André Roy, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

The chair informed the committee of a vacancy in the deputy chair.

The Honourable Senator Seidman moved:

That the Honourable Senator Joyal, P.C., be deputy chair of this committee.

The question being put on the motion, it was adopted.

At 10:04 a.m., pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee resumed in camera to consider a draft agenda (future business).

At 10:28 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
