The Standing Committee on Rules, Procedures and the Rights of Parliament met this day at 9:34 a.m., in room 257, East Block, the chair, the Honourable Leo Housakos, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Batters, Gold, Greene, Housakos, Joyal, P.C., Maltais, Marwah, Ringuette, Seidman, Sinclair, Wells and Woo (12).

In attendance: Marc-André Roy, Analyst, Parliamentary and Research Services, Library of Parliament.

Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.

Pursuant to rule 12-7(2)(c), the committee considered the orders and practices of the Senate and the privileges of Parliament.

WITNESS:

As an individual:

Maxime St-Hilaire, Professor, Université de Sherbrooke.

Mr. St-Hilaire made a statement and answered questions.

At 10:47 a.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
