The Subcommittee on Veterans Affairs met in camera this day at 12 p.m., in room B45, Senate of Canada Building, the chair, the Honourable Jean-Guy Dagenais, presiding.
Members of the subcommittee present: The Honourable Senators Boniface, Dagenais, Jaffer, McIntyre and Richards (5).
In attendance: Isabelle Lafontaine-Emond and Carlee Squires, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament; Stav Nikta, Communications Officer, Senate Communications Directorate.
Also present: The official reporters of the Senate.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Monday, February 1, 2016, the subcommittee continued its study on the services and benefits provided to members of the Canadian Forces; to veterans; to members and former members of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police and their families. (For complete text of the order of reference, see proceedings of the subcommittee, Issue No. 1.)
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the subcommittee considered a draft report.
It was agreed that senator's staff be permitted to remain in the room during the in camera meeting.
It was agreed, that the subcommittee allow the transcription of today's meeting, that one copy be kept with the clerk on the committee for consultation by committee members or staff present, and that the transcript be destroyed by the clerk when authorized to do so by the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure, but no later than at the end of the parliamentary session.
It was agreed that the draft report be adopted and reported back to the Standing Senate committee on National Security and Defence.
At 12:26 p.m., the subcommittee adjourned to the call of the chair.
