The Standing Senate Committee on National Finance met in camera by videoconference this day at 11:02 a.m. [ET], the chair, the Honourable Percy Mockler, presiding. This meeting is considered to have taken place in the parliamentary precinct.
Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Dagenais, Deacon (Ontario), Duncan, Forest, Galvez, Klyne, Loffreda, Marshall, Mockler, Pate, Richards and Smith (12).
In attendance: Andrea Mugny, Procedural Clerk, Committees Directorate; Alex Smith and Shaowei Pu, Analysts, Parliamentary Information and Research Services, Library of Parliament.
Pursuant to the order of reference adopted by the Senate on Wednesday, November 18, 2020, the committee continued its examination of the expenditures set out in the Main Estimates and the Supplementary Estimates (B) for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2021.
Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee considered a draft report in camera.
It was agreed that one staff member from each member of the committee be allowed access to the Zoom meeting for this in camera meeting.
At 11:29 a.m., the Honourable Senator Boehm replaced the Honourable Senator Pate as a member of the committee and the Honourable Senator Pate replaced the Honourable Senator Galvez as a member of the committee.
It was agreed that the draft report, as amended, be adopted; and that the Subcommittee on Agenda and Procedure be empowered to approve the final version of the report taking into consideration this meeting’s discussions, and with any necessary editorial, grammatical and translation changes required.
It was agreed that the chair be authorized to table the report in the Senate, at the earliest opportunity.
At 1:49 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
