Pursuant to the order of the Senate of November 25, 2021, the Standing Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade met in camera this day in room B30, Senate of Canada Building and with videoconference at 11:33 a.m. ET, the chair, the Honourable Peter M. Boehm, presiding.

Members of the committee present: The Honourable Senators Boehm, MacDonald and Oh (3).

Members of the committee present by videoconference: The Honourable Senators Boniface, Cordy, Coyle, Deacon (Ontario), Gerba, Greene, Ravalia, Richards and Woo (9).

Participating in the meeting: Sara Gajic, Legislative Clerk and Maritza Jean-Pierre, Administrative Assistant, Committees Directorate; Brian Hermon and Nadia Faucher, analysts, Library of Parliament; Stav Nitka, Communications Officer, Communications Directorate.

Pursuant to rule 12-16(1)(d), the committee discussed in camera a draft agenda (future business).

It was agreed that for the duration of the parliamentary session, one staff member designated by each member of the committee or by any senator replaced on the committee for a specific meeting be allowed access to in camera meetings held by videoconference via Zoom or Teams.

It was agreed that the proposal for a special study be approved, based on the parameters outlined by the committee’s analysts and distributed prior to this meeting, and that the chair take the necessary steps to obtain the required Senate approval as soon as possible.

At 12:45 p.m., the committee adjourned to the call of the chair.
